The Church of Google - Googlism

"We at the Church of Google believe the search engine Google is the closest humankind has ever come to directly experiencing an actual God (as typically defined). We believe there is much more evidence in favor of Google's divinity than there is for the divinity of other more traditional gods.

We reject supernatural gods on the notion they are not scientifically provable. Thus, Googlists believe Google should rightfully be given the title of "God", as She exhibits a great many of the characteristics traditionally associated with such Deities in a scientifically provable manner."


A clear example of a satiric mock religion, not to aggressive, but still really elitist, very well made site - based on a simple agnostic term taken form a highly atheist point of view. What makes it a really good civil initiative is that the creators of the site retains the strict, minimalistic functionality of the original Google, giving almost scientific explanations on every possible issue you might come up, browsing the pages.
I might say the creators took their role as seriously as possible - you could almost believe in Her, even despite we all very well know Google is just a search engine run by a private company. The incredible number of hatemail they receive could be due the fact they successfully pointed out something very important regarding how religious belief is perceived even by serious believers.
